As you say, not so simple. The printer came today. It has a power cable,
and another cable which has one end for plugging into a power point. The
other end has a two pin plug. I can't find anywhere to plug it in.

The printer is an HP envy 6032. It seems that it connects by wifi only.

Neil

According to HP's specs sheet for the Envy 6032 is does have USB but it makes no mention of a USB cable on the "what's in the box" section.

Find the USB port and there shouldn't be any need to mess around with the Android app.

Grant. :)
