Some years ago I remember connecting a TV to my laptop via HDMi. If my
memory serves me well it just worked.
Now move forward to the current day and I am trying again. I connect
the cable to the laptop and the TV and switch on. The laptop is
working but there is nothing on the TV screen. Things must be
different now. I have had a trawl through the internet and, as usual,
I am confused.
So can anyone point me in the right direction please? My laptop is
running MX Linux. The TV is a smart Panasonic, so quite new. Should I
be changing something somewhere on the laptop?
Help,
Neil
If the TV has a resolution of greater than 1080p, then you might need a
HDMI v2 cable, if the laptop is trying to output a higher resolution,
and you are using an older HDMI cable then you might have this issue.
Well, I bought the cable last week, so can I assume that it is suitable?
How can I tell? It is marked as a high speed HDMi cable.
