First of all, I would question - do you actually need 2 user accounts?
From a conceptual security point of view, absolutely... even for desktop
wallpaper... but I find that my laptop just gets used by everyone logging in as
me....
In my house, everyone tends to be using a web browser, and to logout (or switch
users) is more hassle than it's worth
However...
If you are intending to actually use it "properly", then absolutely, that's a great
thing to do.
What Distro are you using (sorry, I dive in and out of forums and forget these
details)? I've setup multiple users in Mint using the GUIs and it's very straight
forward
If you're a hardcore Arch linux user, then there's more to do 😉

Subject: [External] [LUG] Wife's computer
I have already mentioned that my wife's laptop is playing up. It is coming up to 7
years old and has a spinning HD.
I have my own laptop as a spare, which has an SSD and is working well.
So I am considering setting her up as a second user on that computer while I decide
what to do.
I have not set up a second user for a long time, and I mean more than 15 years, so I
am a bit out of practice.
I would set her up with her own password, and obviously copy over any files as
necessary, including profiles. I would also like her to have root available, mainly
for updates.
Any help with this would be appreciated,
Neil
