I have had a hectic week, so I have completely forgotten the reminder about the meeting today at the White Hart in Holsworthy. So if nobody turns up, my fault.Ah that indeterminate "reasonable time". Your comment caused me to look up Holsworthy on openstreetmap as I have never been there. It also brought back memories of a voluntary tuition tutoring session (computers for seniors) I run, where a person did not turn up. I left after some 30 minutes of waiting. The library phoned my wife, who phoned me to return and met him. I did so. It appeared, that our weekly tutoring session was the only time he left his house, for his mental health it was important. Loneliness and "kikihomori" are now very much in evidence for elderly; and also youngsters , who only communicate on phones and have no 'personal life' Japan statistics say youngsters do not talk to each other in person and i see evidence of this in my village A remote 'contact' on social media is replacing real human interactions.. Now I always wait a long time before abandoning my voluntary sessions. Judgement of 'reasonable' is very difficult -- Regards Eion MacDonald |
