The domain belongs to appsflyer.com, which is a service one can use to
create multifunctional links: for example, links that go to a specific
part of an app if it is installed, or to a web page if the app isn't
installed, or one that lets you download the app for the particular
platform you're using (Android or iOS). That sounds like a sensible
thing to do from a user experience point of view.
Of course, there the issue that the domain doesn't belong to the bank
and that security experts, like myself, always warn to check a URL
before clicking a link.
In theory, this makes sense. In practice, I am sceptical about people's
ability to distinguish halifax.co.uk from halifax.co or
halifax.co.uk.scamsite.com, so maybe manually checking the URL isn't as
relevant as we think it is.
