Off on holidays and need to be able to contact our house sitters. Last time I went abroad all my webmail etc refused to work because I was abroad and as I dont bother with a phone abroad there was no way of getting things working again. Anyone know of a way of kicking gmail/yahoo etc to work when not in the UK?I leave my desktop computer on when I am away and then ssh into it and ssh tunnel a remote desktop, so as far as any site on the Internet is concerned I'm still at home checking my email and reading BBC news without adverts.Tom te tom te tom
Appreciate you either need a static IP or a dynamicdns client running on your desktop to ensure your desktop is reachable, and you would need to port-forward your ssh port on your desktop on your Cable/DSL router.
