Hi,Following a mention on this list last week about CoderDojo and Devon being one of the two 'test' regions I did the clicky thing and out of the blue got invited to a training day put on by the Raspberry Pi Foundation today at Exeter library.
Lots of guidance about how to go about setting up, do's and don'ts etc with a box of BBC Micro thingies thrown in!
The outcome of this is that I hope to set one up in Plymouth. The training today was organised by the Devon Library of which Plymouth is not part but that doesn't mean they would not want to be involved. The other possibility (apart from the central library) would be the university with whom I have a part time association.
The whole part of this ramble (apologies for taking so long to get here) is that as I'm sure you all know the Dojos are run entirely by volunteers at no cost to the kids (ages 7 to 17) - so I would be grateful for any help from the knowledgable folk who I know inhabit this list :-) Gordon you listening - they knew you were funnily enough!
There is no need to be an expert at anything - just a willingness to help for a few hours on a Saturday afternoon - once a month initially. Obviously a dab hand at Python, Scratch, Raspberry Pi hardware etc would be a fine bonus.
It's a great movement which gets help (organisational not financial) from the R Pi Foundation aimed at kids having fun with coding, computers, robots etc.
If someone here already has this planned or on the way then I would not want to tread on their toes but would be willing to help them instead.
