Hi Anthony,
Admittedly not exactly what you were asking, but as a workaround
would the HMRC software work in a VM? Failing that a dual-boot with
Windows 7?
Kind regards,
Julian

Hi all,
Hope you can help me. I bought a new laptop from pc specialists
and I'm well chuffed with it, but I have come across an annoying
problem with one program (unfortunately fairly important one- the
rti-paye tool from HMRC) Won't install or run properly, and when I
have tried to run through terminal it tells me that python cannot
find Zlib then 'core dumped'. I tried a re-install of Xubuntu
16.04 with no change. Tried an install of Mint 18.3 which wouldn't
even complete an install or then obviously boot... tried Ubuntu
Mate. No joy. ANY suggestions other than the obvious ones I have
tried (i.e re-compiling Python, most of the suggestions that come
on a search...)
I am going to re-install Xubuntu 16.04 as at least it installed
properly other than the missing library from Python.
Once I have done that I'll add more detailed information.
Thanks
Anthony
