Hi All,
I use Mint 18.1's Update Manager for software and system updates.
Currently it has two kernel updates listed, 4.4.0-53 and 4.4.0-78.99.
The system is working fine as it is, so I'm loathe to update unless
there is a really compelling reason to do so. Are there any recent
updates I should really have? My current kernel version is
4.4.0-21-generic.
Also if I do upgrade, how do I then remove the obsolete version?
Kind regards,
Julian
I've done about 200 kernel updates on ubuntu in the last year or so and
had no problems. Mint is downstream of ubuntu so should be OK. The
reason for the updates is probable security - not sure what package
manager you use but you should be able to see which updates are security
ones - do those for everyones sake.
