Thanks. I have run update and upgrade and they went OK. The computer is now reported as being up to date. I have not bothered with the remove. It is a fairly new desktop and shouldn't have any unnecessary files, or not many anyway. I will keep that in mind though,On 29/07/16 08:47, barnaby wrote:I have some updates due to install (Xubuntu 16.04). Fine. When I try to run them I get a message that they include some from untrusted sources. I have looked through the list and I am happy to continue. So I click on OK and the updater just closes down. so I tried removing the tick symbol from the ones that looked to be the problem but to no avail. How can I force these updates to go ahead? Thanks, NeilI'd swap to a terminal window and run: # apt-get update # apt-get upgrade And see what happens. You might get a better error message. It wouldn't hurt to do... # apt-get autoremove ...too since you're there.
