Grub or grub2
Grub2 sounds familiar.
Writing stanzas... I might look for some help on that.
Or drop in another drive and build a system on that.
I don't have any earlier kernels.Which is odd, I seem to recall the previous couple of kernels used to hang around and be offered at boot.
But yeah looks like it is booting a kernel without ext4 support, boot earlier kernel
