some older laptops crash using SATA III 3Gb or better drives ,as they don't all work* well if the controller is only a SATAII 1.5GB . sometimes its just a problem due to cheap connector ribbons but some are a bug in the controller. basically the ssd is too fast and the controller gets in a pickle or the interferance on the ribbon leads to checksum problems.
