Is it a powered hub? Devices hanging off the hub might not be getting enough juice boxes of it isn't.
On my Pi2 things that plugin to the onboard USB sockets work ok but
often don't if plugged into a hub attached to the Pi
I'm sure I'm missing something I should remember but perhaps Xmas was
more damaging than I thought...
