All above were tried. Gparted live is usually my first call to 'see a disc'
Prior to extract from WD case and WD board, The disc was visible in
Windows but shown as 'not initiated', i.e. WD software showed a 'disc
present' but unreadable and unwritable, however it could not be
initiated. It was then extracted and the attempt made to read via the
live Linux systems.
I assume 'dead disc'. Mechanical damage to head?
Magnet extraction use only now I think.
