I think that Photoprint
(http://blackfiveimaging.co.uk/index.php?article=02Software%2F01PhotoPrint)
allows you to print a poster split over several pages (Layout > Poster),
with controlled overlap of the sections. I've not tried it myself
though, and I guess it depends on the image format, although imagemagick
can convert most things to jpeg.
