In circumstances like these, let your package manager take care of the missing dependencies for you: sudo apt-get -f install Apt will sort out your package dependencies and install/remove whatever it needs to in order to get your software fully functional again. Presumably the update is related to this: http://apple.slashdot.org/story/14/08/08/1824205/skype-reverses-decision-to-drop-os-x-105-support-retires-windows-phone-7-app The Microsoft employees coding Skype obviously don't like supporting certain platforms, including OSX and predictably, Linux. The fact it works at all on Linux after MS bought it is a source of ongoing surprise to me.
