Just go with 'discard' (and optionally, 'noatime' as well as suggested here) in the relevant fstab lines - it really is much easier, much more reliable and doesn't rely on your machine actually being awake or even on to run. Like automatically scheduled windows updates (that run by default at 03:00, when nearly everyone's PCs are off), using some half-arsed random cronjob to run fstrim is just stupid when your SSD could be constantly looking after itself via discard. If you're worried about wear and tear (don't be) also look at using RAM via tmpfs, etc, to put as much volatile heavy use storage as possible: like your browser profile for example. Additionally, if you have an otherwise decently specced system with enough RAM (8Gb+) totally disable swap as well, it's useless unless you're debugging and need to spool crash dumps and the like to disk.
