I got there first (or before reading your email) however in just checking to see what the content of your email was (were) I have just discovered that when I delete an email it doesnt go to the deleted step - it disappears completely so you have helped me in finding another bug in my damned system.

No I read them first but I'd already solved the problem so I carried on knowing that there are searchable archives of all our important conversations!
