Although obviously, this is playing by the odds - from the news we do know that lightning does cause issues with power, but most notably with direct strikes when sockets get blown out of the wall.
Don't think a trailing lead filter will do a lot in that situation, though, and you might be more concerned with the chimney stack coming through the roof!
