Could be the drive itself, the i/f on the mobo, or maybe just a dodgy cable or connector. Maybe you've tried changing some (or all) of the above items, I can't remember. If not, try plugging the drive into a different socket on the mobo, swapping the drive cable, etc. Although first port of call might be whether the drive is listed in the BIOS device list. >entries are.
