It's similar I believe. I've used links a few times, on which elinks is
based, and didn't like it enough to switch.
For all I know, elinks may be far superior than w3m. The latter can do
what I want it to do in a way that works for me. That's good enough for
me.
And, despite its relative obscurity, w3m is installed on most distros by
default.
