btw, Y-cams are at the medium-high range of price for ip cameras. Foscam do much cheaper ones at very similar quality levels, and there are also foscam clones flooding the market. Expect to pay ~£30 to £50 for a foscam clone with infra red, 640x480 and pan/tilt. Also edimax have some very low priced ip cameras, some under £50 at 1280x1024. Apart from geekpoints, I can't really think why you wouldn't go for a ready-made ip camera.
Had more or less this converstation with someone recently about the Pi as a remote camera - the conclusion was that it was an expensive and underpreforming solution compared to what you can get for 30 quid off the shelf. The hardware alone for a fixed camera would cost you in the order of £60-£70 (Pi, WiFi, Camera, Box, PSU, SD card) and that buys you a really nice PT all in one unit with Wi-Fi and features like "mobile data ready streaming" image capture (by e.g. FTP), IR illumination, etc.
You can do anything & everthing on the Pi, but it doesn't always make sense!
