There is generally less bandwidth available than on FreeNet, because it has less users. Don't forget the other main alternative: http://www.i2p2.de/ (Also requires java). You haven't said particularly why you're interested in these systems - it may well be that Tor is just as suitable for your requirements. There are many other "darknet" style systems out there as well. WARNING: once you're on any of these systems and able to access the directories of freenet sites, onion sites, etc, it is depressingly easy to encounter blatant CP content. I'm wondering if all of these systems will get a sudden spike in new users following the PRISM debacle in the western press?
