Supplying search terms and your ip address to various other companies, each with their own privacy terms, as the article expands on, is a bit beyond trusting just canonical though. I guess it's down to each user on how much about themselves they're willing to surrender. Without getting too excited about it, this is no worse than using a search engine or Facebook.
