Yes, there's that, too.  The old "If it was good enough for my dad..."
argument.  You know you're on to a loser there if they fold their arms.
That's a sure sign they've stopped listening to anything you say, and
will have no truck whatsoever with any of your arguments, no matter how
valid they are, or eloquently you put them.

To put it another way;  You can lead a horse to water, but you can't
make it drink.
