I wrote a "thank you" note to the authors and maintainers of of Konsole not so long ago. It has always "just worked" for me for nearly a decade, but yes it may depend what they need from a terminal emulator. I vaguely remember in the my Unix days struggling to get a terminal emulator that supported VT220(?) printer control code, fortunately most of us don't try and send our print jobs to dumb terminals these days.
