Have you been fully sorted over this issue?I am assuming you have a USB to SATA adapter/dock and you have another PC to connect it to.
I tend to boot the whole setup with a Ubuntu live CD or similar and they tend to mount connected USB things quite nicely as well as the local disk and then you can copy one to another. It just seems to keep everything nice and tidy.
I guess you have checked all the obvious issues, power to the adapter to power the drive, drive not damaged etc.
I am sure the LUG have sorted you out by now. Trevor At 12:10 08/09/2012, you wrote:
I have extracted the hard-drive from my laptop and am trying to boot from it (via a SATA HDD Docking Station). I could not, not yet sure why I am now trying to mount it. var/log/syslog indicates: Sep 8 11:54:52 cintilla kernel: [ 381.921226] scsi 7:0:0:0: Direct-Access ASMT 2105 0 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5 Sep 8 11:54:52 cintilla kernel: [ 381.928410] sd 7:0:0:0: [sdc] Attached SCSI removable disk But then I cannot mount /dev/sdc Any suggestions?
