How do you measure the speed from the NAS? How do you know it's not just
slow.. Or can you ssh into it - Linux/BSD, etc. ?
Easy to check on your PC though - just use ifconfig eth0 and check for
errors...
e.g. smal lextract from one of mine:
RX packets:43044421 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:29870893 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
And check that the interface really is in full duplex mode with
sudo mii-tool eth0
and
ethtool eth0
although not all interfaces support these.
If you can logon to the NAS and it's linux, then see if it has iperf, then
you can run some iperf sessions between the NAS and the PC, and you can
always just connect the 2 together without going via the "superhub" to do
some more tests...
