Just upgraded to ubu 11.10 and getting problems of monitor out of sync.

The Nvidia driver seems to know what monitor I have and works for'desktop' but switching users or going to a bash login (ctrl f1 etc)gives monitor problems. This is also on boot up so I'm a bit worried. Iguess this isnt an X11 setting so any ideas?
