Hi Paul,

After the last meeting at Paignton, where you will recall, we discussed my problems with videos and sound, I succeeded in getting sound and videos back with Chrome but not with Firefox although I used to be able to.

I will not be at the next meeting as am in York but my problems have increased.

I have backed up my pictures and documents outside the PC so I could use the CD you gave me to do a complete install. Unfortunately it will not allow me to do it.

I suspect something is wrong with the hardware but I have checked the disk and it is pronounced Healthy. I have removed all partitions. When I put in your CD to install, all goes well till it stops and tells me there is an unrecoverable error. I have run it several times, now it leaves me with a black screen with several lines of text each of which has OK on the righthand side.

I am at the moment running 12.04 from your disk perfectly sucessfully but that is very limited.

Have you any ideas on the way forward? I have a laptop working with Vista.
