Anyone got experience with what would be a good distribution for samsung NC10 netbook Samsung NC10's with 160GB HDD, 1.6Ghz Intel Atom processors and 1GB RAM. In terms of Linux distro to install, (will be running scratch, and other programming languages, and I will try and get rtb on there too :) I was thinking debian, as that should run really smoothly, my netbook is currently very similar spec, so i know ubuntu runs fine, but I want something a little more generic, Anyone got experiences they can share, what to watch out for while installing etc
Well as I use Debian, then ... Debian. Works fine on my old AAO - 1.6GHz Atom, 1GB RAM, etc. The "usual" issues will be sound and Wi-Fi, but things are improving in these areas all the time...Have to say; and this goes against everything I've done so-far, I'd probably go through the manual install method, have it use the whole disk rather than partitions and select a window manager like xfce4 - which is what I now use. However xfce4 under Debian Squeese is almost impossible to edit the menus - I gave up in the end, however since almsot everything I do is inside an xterm, it's OK, and new applications installed add themselves to the menus in a mostly sane fashion.
