The extender cables either have active repeaters, effectively like a USB hub, so you can have up to 4 of these, giving 5 x 5M, or use cat 5 cables (no idea if/how they meet the requirements). I've no idea how well they work, the longest USB cable I use is from joystick to hub to computer (about 2 meters), but I wouldn't be so bold as to claim they won't work, although as you say power may be an issue.
