<Snip> Original message dropped as it's HTML One of the problems is that the AltGr key accessed the Microsoft codepage. All of the characters are accessible as Unicode (although it is reported as Gnome GTK+ only, but I'm using KDE and it seems to work). Type in Ctrl+Shift+u return and then the hex unicode for the glyph you want. Not sure how to add a diacritical mark to another letter though - I think Unicode treats an accented letter as a completely different "glyph". So  is Ctrl+Shift+u return followed by 00bf and à is Ctrl+Shift+u return 00f1 etc. Hope this is some help Phil (Ref: Haralambous, Y "Fonts and Encodings" (USA, O'Reilly) 2007) -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/listfaq
