(and why?)
OK. Good. (I guess you've got plenty of time on your hands though :)I've decided to waste some time today actually trying to use Scribus. My Wife produced a 2-page quiz yesterday using Publisher in a very short time indeed and I'm trying to copy it. I'm now one hour into Scribus and have put 3 objects on the page so-far. However I've found out how to resize images, make them transparent (or less opaque), layer them on-top of each other.
However a bit furstration that my wife had was lack of real-time textupdate. Maybe it's possible, but I've not found it yet - so I create a text box, then have to click again to pull up a menu to edit the text content and type something in - clicking another button (or Ctrl-U) to update the "live" image..
Curiously enough, I'm finding it a bit like XFig - which I used a lot in the past (I've also written and used CAD software a lot in my engineering days) - however I've yet to find some sort of snap-to-grid feature, so I can line up several lines of text exactly. (or maybe I just put them all in the same box)
Know what you mean. Some people that I know are like that so I just leave them to it. Their loss. Some people are like that.I have reached the stage now where I am happy to help those who come to me to ask about free source software, but I have more or less given up on trying to push it.
Same here... However, while I can do this with customers & people I don't know, it's hard with family.
