If its will only ever be used on linux boxes probably yes- however if you do need it in a hurry you will find there are only w$ crippled boxes and they wont be able to read it. Talking of which - why are there no apps for reading ext3/4 etc on windows???? I know if I had the misfortune to own a w7 box I'd have written one myself by now.I am wondering about using an external hard drive as back up to my hard drive. I have never used one so I am wondering if it is a good idea. Also, any recommendations about which make? And do they come ready formatted and if so which format? would it be sensible to format it to say Ext4? Thanks for any pointers. Neil
