[LUG] detailed control of gimp startup on two screens?

The gimp's various windows offer the choice of which of my screens they
appear on (the desktop is not continuous across them, can't just be
dragged - driver limitations).

Is it possible to tell the gimp when it starts to put the main image
screen - its own desktop - on one screen, and the toolbox etc on the
left? A short shell script to start it up thus, perhaps, and calling
that rather than directly the gimp, or automation via Python or whatever
within it once it is running?

I operate 4 desktops on each screen, which may be excessive, but a
refinement would be to bring the gimp windows up on a particular desktop
on each screen.
