Tom te tom te tomStrange, as the basic project you get when creating a new Android project in Eclipse (with the SDK and ADT plugin installed) is a Hello World app that normally runs fine on the emulator. Figuring out what went wrong can be a little bit of a black art, but LogCat helps a lot. I did my final year project in Android (targeting v1.5 for my HTC Hero), so if you have any more information I'll help if I can
Sorry for the delay, been away for a bit.I've done a bit of Android stuff too. I managed to get the compiler working without Eclipse, which took a while to figure out since almost all documentation is for Eclipse :(
Overall I found it to be pretty good. Sometimes I wonder if I should have got an Android phone- it's a lot quicker to develop for than Maemo. But I couldn't go without Linux for long...
Docs out of sync can be a problem sometimes. When I was developing I found a lot of tutorials were for the pre-release API. I wish people would put version numbers on their tutorials.
Best resource is the Android IRC channel. Many very helpful people there, who will now doubt point you to some good, up to date, documentation.
Hope this helps. Simon -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/listfaq
