I rather rashly said my six year old son could have a computer for his next birthday, I thought about a netbook. Does anyone have any ideas ?
What would he want to do on the computer? Play games? Browse the internet? Watch videos etc?Going on what two of my daughters (who are now 10 and 8, but were 8 and 6 when I got them a PC) want to do on their PC, I'd hazard a guess that it would be a bit of web browsing (CBeebies web site), playing simple games (Tux Racer, Super Tux), a bit of graphics work (TuxPaint :-D) and maybe watching the odd video on iPlayer.
In which case I'd say yeah a netbook would probably fit. They're reasonably cheap and probably quick enough to do all of the above.
Maybe something like this for instance... http://tinyurl.com/2ukjw23(Okay it has XP on it but that could either be kept on there and dual booted with Linux, or replaced with Linux).
