That's exactly my situation. I've just had a bit of a purge, but even so I still have in the region of 175,000 emails spanning seven different email accounts on four IMAP servers, some of which go back more than fifteen years. When I get some time, I should probably rationalise things a bit more. Is there some way to tell Thunderbird that "most of the time if a message is older than n days I probably won't care about it and you can ignore it. I may need to refer to it at some point though, so I can't throw it away"?
