Hi all, Sorry for the Windows question on a Linux list, but I figure someone here may be able to point out the obvious to me - I've been racking my brains over this for several hours now. On my Mum's XP PC she can't load up *any* webpages nor will most applications actually make a successful outgoing connection. I have installed LogMeIn onto it so I can remotely help her. She has Skype installed. Both of these run at startup. Both of these are working absolutely fine. So, on the surface it would seem that everything is OK from a network point of view - Skype and LogMeIn work brilliantly, and one can successfully ping from her machine, through the NATed router to anywhere on t'Internet. Nslookuping works well too. However, try to establish an actual connection and it fails. >From her machine: Tracing route to google.com [209.85.229.104] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 34 ms 99 ms 99 ms speedtouch.lan [10.0.0.138] 2 37 ms 38 ms 38 ms loop-l2tp.fb1.newnet.co.uk [212.87.69.130] 3 39 ms 37 ms 37 ms lns0.th.newnet.co.uk [212.87.69.209] 4 39 ms 45 ms 38 ms 7609-1.lan3.newnet.co.uk [212.87.79.97] 5 40 ms 39 ms 37 ms 195.66.224.125 6 51 ms 38 ms 39 ms 64.233.175.25 7 71 ms 60 ms 45 ms 72.14.232.134 8 45 ms 44 ms 45 ms 209.85.252.83 9 * * * Request timed out. 10 45 ms 43 ms 44 ms ww-in-f104.1e100.net [209.85.229.104] Trace complete. >From my laptop: traceroute to google.com (209.85.227.103), 64 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 10.188.240.1 8 ms 8 ms 9 ms 2 80.6.129.141 222 ms 39 ms 11 ms 3 195.188.231.21 [MPLS: Label 10835 Exp 0] 14 ms 14 ms 14 ms 4 195.182.178.133 47 ms 265 ms 47 ms 5 213.105.172.161 16 ms 63 ms 44 ms 6 212.43.163.189 237 ms 33 ms 31 ms 7 212.43.163.70 27 ms 35 ms 48 ms 8 212.250.14.158 240 ms 73 ms 55 ms 9 209.85.252.76 24 ms (TOS=128!) 209.85.255.175 21 ms 234 ms 10 66.249.95.173 41 ms 72.14.232.134 26 ms 66.249.95.173 71 ms 11 209.85.251.231 340 ms 216.239.49.45 39 ms 72.14.236.191 36 ms 12 * * * 13 209.85.227.103 27 ms (TOS=0!) 34 ms 33 ms Everything seems OK there. >From my laptop: telnet smtp.googlemail.com 25 Trying 209.85.227.16...
