My desktop is cable linked so that's OK. Otherwise I have a laptop which
is running Mint v7 Xfce. I have tried setting up WPA-PSK2 and the
earlier WPA-PSK on the router. This is easy to set up but then my laptop
refuses to link to the wifi network at all. (It uses Wicd.) Go back to
no encryption and it is fine again.

My previous router, which I have just replaced, had no encryption set
up. I used it for about four years before it started to die on me. Hence
the new router. So this is my first try at using security.

As for my wife's XP laptop, that worked with the old router, albeit
slowly. I can't get it to link to the new router at all. For the time
being my wife is using my laptop for her emails etc.

So, for the moment I am managing without any security at all.

Regards

Neil
