Thanks to VBox I have been trying out Lucid Ubuntu, and thanks to John Williams for passing me a CD at the last Holsworthy meeting. I have had a good look at it and one thing is certain, I will not be installing it. Possibly it is because I don't like Gnome. Or perhaps I have waited too long since the last time I changed. I am currently using Hardy Kubuntu. I have had a look at the latest version of PCLinuxOS and I am waiting for the KDE or Xfce version of Mint 9 as a comparison. Then I will choose one of those. The great number of distros of Linux is both a strength and a weakness. For newbies I suspect it can be confusing and worrying. Which to try out? For me it is great. There is a distro available to suit just about anybody. Next meeting at Holsworthy 19th June by the way, Neil -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
