I use Skype on a daily basis to talk to clients and contacts across the world and across different operating platforms.

I am using the client v2.1.0.81 on 64bit Fedora 12, I do use a yum repo for it but I have a niggling feeling it wasn't easy as all that to get working. There may have been a number of 386 rpms to install to get it to work.

In my experience Skype can be flaky. The client app often kills itself without letting anybody know. And sometimes calls will repeatedly drop out (though this may be down to network connection). And chat logging is not as good as it could be.

On the plus side, and this may not be exclusive to skype, I can concall with guys in Oz, and San Francisco clearly and easily.
