The problem is that in XFCE I can't have different themes on each desktop, they all have to be the same. Thus when I move to desktop #2 I can't tell just by looking at the colours. >> Also, I use a mouse so is there any way to disable the keypad please? > > $ sudo apt-get install gsynaptics > $ gsynaptics & > Tried that. Installed gsynaptics OK. When I tried to run it I got an error message that SHMConfig had to be set to True in xorg.conf. However some research in Google suggests that SHMConfig is nowadays set up in HAL. And indeed cannot find xorg.conf in XFCE. So now I am more confused than ever. I have also found, via Google, that a lot of laptop users want to disable the touchpad, and have problems. Some suggested that it could be done in the Bios, but have not yet found out how to get there in my Compaq Presario. <rant> Why can't laptop manufacturers make it easy to enable/disable the touchpad? It seems to be a popular need. Even something as simple as another switch on the machine could be one way. Or perhaps using an unusual key combination, eg Alt-F11. Still searching and moaning. </rant> Neil Winchurst -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
