Yep, I'm not prepared to pay £180 odd for a return to London, as you say it's cheaper to drive, heck, I could hire a car and drive down there cheaper than that! :-)Rob Beard wrote:My only concern is that if we get any interest, there won't be enough interest to make it worthwhile hiring a coach for the day. I guess if all else fails and only a couple of us want to go then we could probably go to London on the train (I gather if you book early enough you get fairly cheap tickets too).Hooo, yes. Peak-time travel is not cheap. I had to pay £183 for two standard singles from Paddington to Taunton five weeks ago. Would have been far cheaper to drive and far more pleasant but for the bottle of wine bought for the trip home by the client I was working for at the time. James
I can't seem to find any details of what is considered peak/off-peak. I dare say if we were to take the train we'd probably be worth leaving Exeter for around 6am ish maybe, possibly 7am, to give us time to get to London and have some breakfast. I'd have thought it would probably be on a Saturday too, not sure if it makes it any cheaper, but I assume it would be easier to most folks to make it on a Saturday.
