well, i don't really want to change o/s but as you say, bet they are there by default. im using pclinuxos and have been for a couple of years now (a doddery old git like me doesn't like change) !Have a look at UbuntuStudio - http://ubuntustudio.org/ You can upgrade an Ubuntu to Ubuntustudio with:https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ubuntu%20Studio%20Upgrade%20from%20Ubuntuand it may have the drivers!Tom te tom te tom
