Hi All, I have set up wake on lan on my Linux (ubuntu) machine. I would like a windows XP computer on my home network to wake the Linux machine when it needs to access the samba network drive. I have created a script for the windows machine which will send the magic packet and then open the windows file browser, which works well. The problem is that if the Linux machine is suspended when this window is open it all goes wrong. What I want to do is somehow automagically send the magic packet each time the windows machine does a network drive access, so if it is suspended during use it will be woken up prior to the attempt to access the drive. Has anyone managed to do this? Can the windows network card be forced to prepend a magic packet? Can the router be forced to prepend a magic packet? Can the Linux network card be forced to wake on all traffic?
