(Apologies for resurrecting a very old thread - catching up on very old mail!)
I'm actually still going on this. Uni work has meant I haven't been able to do much with it, but I'm still looking for a solution.
The website hosting is a very old package and needs changing anyway, so a VPS could be a good option. However, wouldn't a VPS provider be another potential block on sending the mailing list?In terms of network performance and IP reputation it's similar to dedicated servers, so typically not a problem. Of course every provider is different.Or are they likely to be better than a residential connection?Yes, there isn't really any comparison.
I'm currently looking at using PHPList. If I can get everything on the same server as the website it will simplify list updates significantly.
This still leaves the problem of needing a host that will let me send 2000+ emails a week, without having to pay a huge amount more. That said, how much does Windows server cost for charities? Since I can throw it away once I get this sorted I should probably factor that cost in.
Can anyone recommend a cheap VPS provider who won't limit my email? I'm also looking for one for my own use if I can find a good price.
