I've used sip over wifi from my Nokia E61. I was in India at the time: logged into a 
friends wifi network and called. No problems, good clarity of call. Did have some 
surprised comments (like "I thought you were in India, why are you calling me from a 
UK landline)

I used www.sipgate.co.uk who also provided all the settings for SIP on the E61
