Using the Self-Assessment Online pages, I've been entering my details in any common browser for several years. The HMRC site doesn't use any fancy tricks, admins respond in a friendly manner to requests for simple links to PDF's etc. and general accessibility issues seem to always receive high priority and are fixed quickly. There are no supported tax programs available on GNU/Linux for posting the return without going through the online form but the online form itself is actually easier to use than any tax return software I'd used previously on Windows. Prepare the details offline using whatever financial program you want, make a little spreadsheet in Gnumeric etc. to lay out the calculations and answer the questions in the online form. At any stage, save the online form within the secure site and come back to it when you've got whatever questions sorted out. At the end, the review process is as thorough as I've needed and picks up general errors. All you really need to do is download the draft return as PDF before submitting and then checking the form as carefully as you can. -- Neil Williams ============= http://www.data-freedom.org/ http://www.linux.codehelp.co.uk/ http://e-mail.is-not-s.ms/
